Member Service Representative

The Member Service Representative (MSR) serves as a vital link between Three Rivers Electric Cooperative and its members. This position is responsible for providing prompt, courteous, and accurate assistance to members both in person and via phone. The MSR performs a variety of administrative, cashiering, and receptionist duties while maintaining accurate member records and processing service-related transactions in a computerized environment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for members, handling inquiries and service requests via phone and in person
  • Perform cashier duties including processing payments, issuing receipts, and reconciling cash drawers
  • Handle receptionist duties such as greeting visitors and directing phone calls to appropriate staff
  • Assist with taking outage calls and communicating outage information to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date member records in the Cooperative’s computer systems
  • Process member account transactions including new service applications, disconnects, reconnects, and transfers
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless member service
  • Operate standard office equipment and perform general clerical tasks as needed
  • Flexibility to report to the Linn or Brazito office locations as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Relationships

  • Internal
    • Reports to Supervisor of Member Services
    • Works closely with other MSRs
    • Cooperates with all department managers and employees to provide assistance as needed

  • External
    • Membership – maintains a courteous and positive relation with members in all necessary dealings
    • General Public – maintains a courteous and positive relation in all contacts with General Public
    • Associated Organizations – maintains a courteous and positive relation in all contacts with Associated Organizations

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in customer service preferred
  • Certificates and Licenses
    • Possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license
    • Must have reliable transportation

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Skilled in computer data entry and operation of electronic business equipment
  • Must maintain confidentiality of member and cooperative information
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Working Conditions
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and may require additional hours or weekend work.
  • Occasional business travel within the Cooperative’s system, as well as attend functions relevant to the position.  Attend meetings as a participant or observer and attend training seminars both at the office and at various outside locations upon request.
  • Employee may also be required to handle and perform work safely and efficiently through stressful situations

  • Physical Demands
  • Works in a climate-controlled office environment.  Job requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.  Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Maintain neat, well-groomed, and business-like appearance
